Horace Nalle, Chief Legal Officer and Head of Legal, Communications, and Public Affairs at Merial, a leading provider of animal health products, oversees public affairs and communications for operations in more than 150 countries. Throughout his career with Merial, Horace Nalle has been instrumental in managing regulatory issues related to products requiring compliance with the FDA, USDA, EPA, and other national and world health agencies. As Merial continues to evolve its portfolio of existing patents and IP rights in animal genes, DNA vaccines, and other animal health products, Horace Nalle utilizes his expertise in management and legal affairs to promote a growing number of trademarks, patents, and registrations on five continents.
Horace Nalle joined Merial in 1997 as a member of the management team that founded the company. In addition to holding the position of Chief Legal Officer since 1997, Nalle also served as Head of Regulatory and Public Affairs, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Tax for Merial Limited from 2001 to 2002. In this position, he oversaw the registration of over 15,000 presentations around the world. From 2002 to 2005, he acted as President and Chief Executive Officer of Merial subsidiary Hubbard LLC, a poultry-breeding corporation with over $150 million in sales. Nalle also served as Head of Merial Blue Sky Research in 2008.
Horace Nalle attended Harvard University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1978. An active member of the University’s theatre community, Nalle joined the Gilbert & Sullivan Players while a student at Harvard. He continued his studies at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctor before entering into employment with Drinker Biddle & Reath in Philadelphia. He also held several roles in the legal department of Merck & Co., Inc., prior to assuming his current position at Merial.
