The Atlanta area’s mild climate is conducive to running, and the city has developed a strong running culture. With events such as the ATC Atlanta Half Marathon & 5K and the Big Peach 5K Run/Walk for Blood Cancer on the calendar, more and more Atlanta residents are hitting the streets at a respectable pace. If you are considering training for an event, or jogging for pleasure, here are a few of the Atlanta area’s most popular running trails.
Piedmont Park in the middle of the city is a great starting place, with a variety of tracks circling the ball fields, Clara Meer, and the Meadow. Clinton Nature Preserve west of Atlanta offers some challenging ascents, and stunning Douglas County scenery. In Cobb County, Kennesaw Mountain has over 17 miles of trails, ranging from easy to arduous. The Silver Comet Trail in Smyrna is also popular with local runners.
